Vivekananda private degree college was founded by Sri. P. Muralinatha Reddy, chairman of Vivekananda educational society and established in 2006. It was the only government degree college in vempalli Mandal. It was affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University Tirupati since 2006. From 2010, the college has been under the affiliation of Yogi Vemana University, kadapa. Later,
the college has been handed over to the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide Proc. RC. No. 50/GDC-CS/2020 dated 29.10.2020 along with its assets and the land to the extent of 4.89 acres. Later, after the initiation taken by Pulivendula Area Development Authority (PADA), 4.99 acres was allotted for college by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Jammalamadugu. At present, the college is situated near HP gas godown adjacent to the four lanes road between Gandi and Pulivendula. It is running in a tin roofed building with 18 class rooms and 5 laboratories along with library temporarily. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned 20 crores for the construction of new building with G+2 besides men hostel, women hostel and staff quarters.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned 29 teaching posts and 14 non-teaching posts vide G.O. MS no. 35 dated 23.10.2020 and G.O. Ms no. 29 dated 30.06.2021 of the special chief secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The college has been offering seven programmes in B.A., B.Com and B.Sc.
